TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for physicians, certified registered nurse anesthetists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and all other medical care providers who require training in opioid or other substance use disorders.

PROGRAM PURPOSE

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recently released materials related to the new Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act. The Act requires new or renewing DEA registrants, as of June 27, 2023, to have completed a total of at least eight hours of accredited continuing education (CE) on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders before renewing their license. This program fulfills this new requirement.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

Discuss the evolution and scope of the opioid crisis in the United States

Review the pharmacological effects and mechanisms of action of opioids and other substances of abuse

Identify the risk factors and signs of opioid and substance use disorders

Explore evidence-based prevention and harm reduction strategies

Enhance knowledge of treatment options and resources

Promote compassion and reduce stigma around substance use disorders

COURSE CANCELLATION BY PROVIDER

We reserve the right to cancel a course for any reason. In such case, a minimum of 14 days notice will be given to those registered and 100% of tuition paid will be refunded. NWS/NWAS will not be responsible for any other liabilities you may incur.

COURSE CANCELLATION FEE

No penalty for webinar cancellation received by July 29, 2023. $50 penalty for webinar cancellations received after July 29, 2023. Cancellation must be made in writing. No tuition credit or refund will be issued for attendees that do not log in for the program.
